Things to remember
- A good night's sleep improves just about everything.
- Nobody, at the end of the night ever says "I should have had more to eat/drink."
- If you can get yourself in the habit of making a hot cup of herbal tea after dinner, your dessert cravings will decrease astronomically.
- It's harder to exercise four days a week than it is to exercise every day. Make your exercise "day off" yoga, stretching, or a leisurely walk.
- The simplest foods are often the tastiest and lowest in calories. A poached egg and toast, a sliced chicken sandwich, a bowl of vegetarian soup, or a roasted squash are all satisfying, filling, nutritious and low calorie.
- Most restaurant desserts aren't very good.
- Start drinking a lot of water around 4 or 5 PM. This will get you hydrated so you don't have to drink a lot of water with dinner, which will aid in digestion. Also you prevent late night thirst which leads to sleeplessness.
- Summer fruit
- Trying something new opens a world of possibilities. Last night it was fiddleheads for me.
- Sneak an extra vegetable into a dish now and again. Last week I pureed roasted butternut squash into my fettuccine alfeydo.
Thank you for these ideas. I am going to try herbal tea after dinner.
